LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team delivered a thrilling walk-off win before falling in a shortened second game to split a doubleheader with (RV) Simpson on Tuesday at Sandhills Global Youth Complex. The Prairie Wolves took Game 1, 2-1, on a chaotic seventh-inning rally, while Simpson bounced back with a 12-3
run-rule victory in Game 2.
Game 1: NWU 2, Simpson 1
Simpson struck first in the third inning launching solo homer to right field. The Storm kept NWU's offense quiet through six innings, allowing just three hits while working out of jams in the fourth and fifth.
But the Prairie Wolves flipped the script in the seventh. Becca Chloupek, pinch-running after a walk, advanced to second on a sac bunt. Jenna Kimberling was hit by a pitch, setting the stage for Addi Duranski, who ripped an RBI single to left. The ball was misplayed in the outfield, allowing Chloupek to score the tying run.
With runners at the corners, Eva Fahrnbruch dropped a perfectly placed bunt that landed between the pitcher and third baseman, plating Kimberling for the walk-off 2-1 win.
