WAVERLY, Iowa — Nebraska Wesleyan's season concluded with a 4-1 loss to Wartburg in the A-R-C Tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Prairie Wolves (8-10) took one doubles match and one singles match but couldn't overcome the Knights' (18-9) depth in singles.
How It Happened
Crystal Craft and Caitlin Hudson provided NWU's lone doubles win, grinding out a 7-5 victory at #2 doubles over Emma Thurness and Tori Johnson. The Knights countered with dominant performances at #1 (Natalie Kaiser/Morgan Kathman over Anna Burt/Ella Ford 6-0) and #3 (Brooke Bloom/Reese Williams over Parker Brown/Jayna Erickson 7-5).
Craft delivered again in singles, cruising past Williams 6-1, 6-2 at #3. But Wartburg sealed the match with straight-set wins at #1 (Kaiser over Burt 6-3, 6-1), #4 (Thurness over Brown 6-4, 6-2), and #6 (Bloom over Erickson 6-0, 6-1). Hudson's match at #5 went unfinished (4-6, 5-4 UF).
