Football Looks for Break Through Victory at Buena Vista

Lincoln, NE - After four consecutive losses, Nebraska Wesleyan looks for a break through victory against Buena Vista.

Kick off for Saturday's game is set for 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium & Peterson Field, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Buena Vista will live stream the game and carry live stats

SCOUTING NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Team: Nebraska Wesleyan was defeated by #7 Wartburg, 34-10, in their last game. The Prairie Wolves enter Saturday 1-7 and have lost four straight games. NWU's lone victory was a 44-7 route over Luther on Saturday, September 27th. 

Offense: Quarterback Connor White leads an NWU offense that averages 17.38 points per game, and 322.4 yards per game. The Prairie Wolves have recorded 141 first downs, with 73 coming through the air, 53 being on the ground, and 15 coming from a penalty. White has thrown for 1,310 yards and eight touchdowns, while completing 63.56 percent of his passes. Joey McLaughlin has emerged as NWU's top receiving threat, catching 57 passes, for 753 yards, and eight touchdowns. McLaughlin has posted four games with 100 yard or more receiving yards. On the ground, Trystin Myers has taken 123 rushing attempts for 713 yards and four touchdowns.

Defense: Defensively Nebraska Wesleyan allows 30.75 points per game and 338 yards per game. NWU has allowed 153 first downs. The Prairie Wolf defense is led by Hunter Hanke, who has posted 58 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and six sacks, while forcing four fumbles, and breaking up two passes. The Prairie Wolves feature a dynamic linebacker unit, with Carlos Porter and Jian Aguilar combining to make 105 tackles, and force two fumbles. The Prairie Wolf defense has picked off four passes, with Aguilar, and defensive backs Antonio Martinez, Darrius Paige, and Kelby Zimmerman each recording one interception.

Special Teams: In the kicking game, Jace Winkler is 4-9 on field goal attempts, with a long of 47. Winkler also doubles as NWU's punter, averaging 38.90 yards per punt, with a long of 68 yards.

HEAD COACH BRIAN KELLER
Coach Brian Keller is in his 30th season at the helm of Nebraska Wesleyan football in 2025, continuing a legendary run as the winningest coach in program history. A Nebraska Wesleyan graduate and former player, Keller has led his alma mater since 1996, compiling a career record of 133-157. 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN FOOTBALL TRADITION
Established in 1896, NWU football has amassed over 500 wins and claimed 22 conference championships. The Prairie Wolves are also a national academic powerhouse, ranking seventh among all football programs for CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

SCOUTING BUENA VISTA
Buena Vista enters this week 2-6 and has lost its last three games. The Beavers average 14.88 points and 314.3 yards per game. Defensively, Buena Vista allows 31.63 points and 380.1 yards per game. Buena Vista is led by Austin Dickinson, in his third season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST BUENA VISTA
Saturday will mark the 13th meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista. The Prairie Wolves are 6-5-1 against the Beavers.
