Nebraska Wesleyan Men's Golf Finishes 5th at Twin Cities Classic

Elk River, MN – The Nebraska Wesleyan University men's golf team showcased their resilience and skill at the Twin Cities Classic, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College, finishing in a commendable fifth place out of 16 teams. The tournament, held over three days from Saturday to Monday at Elk River Golf Club, LeSueur Country Club, and Minnesota Valley Country Club, featured a competitive field and challenging conditions, but the Prairie Wolves rose to the occasion with a three-round score of 54-over-par 906 (300-306-300). The tournament was a true test of endurance and strategy, with teams navigating varying course layouts and weather conditions. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Prairie Wolves kicked off the tournament with a solid opening round, posting a score of 300, placing them in contention among the leaders. Harrison Weddell led the charge with an impressive score of 73. Jaiden Ronke also contributed significantly, carding a 75, while the team collectively showed promise with their strong start.

As the tournament progressed, the team faced tougher conditions, resulting in a second-round score of 306. Despite the challenges, Weddell remained steady, shooting a 77. Ronke continued to perform well, though the team faced some setbacks. Jacob Cosimano stepped up, finishing the day with a 76.The Prairie Wolves ended the day in a solid position, still within striking distance of the top teams.

The final round saw Nebraska Wesleyan bounce back with a strong performance, matching their first-round score of 300. Weddell once again led the team, shooting a 73 to finish the tournament tied for seventh in the 85-player field with a total score of ten-over-par 223 (73-77-73). Ronke also made a significant impact, finishing tied for 19th with a score of thirteen-over-par 226 (75-78-73). Cosimano placed 28th overall with a three-round score of 230 (79-76-75), while Jackson Lapour finished tied for 33rd at 231 (73-76-82). Travis Tilford rounded out the team's performance, placing tied for 50th with a final score of 236 (80-77-79).

UP NEXT

Nebraska Wesleyan will look to build on their success as they prepare for their next challenge at the CC Cougar Classic Fall Invitational scheduled for October 20th and 21st. The tournament will take place at Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Missouri.
