Football Prepares for Second Conference Road Test at Dubuque

Lincoln, NE - Fresh off a dominant 44-7 victory over Luther, the Nebraska Wesleyan football team heads to eastern Iowa this weekend for a matchup with the University of Dubuque Spartans.

GAME TIME, LOCATION, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Kick off for Saturday's game is set for 2:00 p.m., at Chalmers Field, in Dubuque, Iowa. Dubuque will live stream the game and carry live stats.

SCOUTING NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan rolled past Luther in its last outing, improving to 1-3 on the season. The Prairie Wolves average 19.5 points and 319.5 yards per game. Quarterback Connor White leads the offense with a 65.9% completion rate, throwing for 521 yards and three touchdowns. His top target, Joey McLaughlin, has 21 catches for 306 yards and five scores, including a career-best 189 yards and three touchdowns against Luther. Trystin Myers powers the ground game with 306 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 55 carries.

Defensively, Hunter Hanke leads NWU with 28 tackles. The Prairie Wolves have been opportunistic, forcing six turnovers through four games.

McLaughlin Making Noise
Junior receiver Joey McLaughlin has emerged as a key weapon to Nebraska Wesleyan's offensive attack. In four games, McLaughlin has caught 21 passes, and averages 14.57 yards per reception, while going for 306 yards and five touchdowns. In his most recent outing against Luther, McLaughlin torched the Norse, putting up 189 yards on 10 receptions, while scoring three touchdowns. For his performance, McLaughlin was named American Rivers Conference Male Athlete of the Week. 

HEAD COACH BRIAN KELLER
Coach Brian Keller is in his 30th season at the helm of Nebraska Wesleyan football in 2025, continuing a legendary run as the winningest coach in program history. A Nebraska Wesleyan graduate and former player, Keller has led his alma mater since 1996, compiling a career record of 133-153. 

SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE
The Spartans (1-3) are coming off a 35-16 loss to Central. Dubuque averages 28 points and 374 yards of offense per game, but allows 39 points and nearly 400 yards defensively. Ryan Maiuri is in his second season as the head coach at Dubuque.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE
Saturday will mark the ninth meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Dubuque. The Spartans lead the all-time series 8-0.
