Nebraska Wesleyan Caps Season with 3-1 Win at Coe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer closed out the 2025 season in style on Tuesday evening, taking down Coe College 3-1 in American Rivers Conference play at Clark Field. The Prairie Wolves finish the season on a high note, improving to 4-7-5 overall and 2-4-4 in A-R-C action. Coe falls to 2-12-4 and 0-8 in the league.

On a gray and chilly afternoon in Cedar Rapids, the Prairie Wolves found their spark early and never looked back, striking in the opening minutes and controlling possession throughout. Three different players found the back of the net as Nebraska Wesleyan put together one of its most complete team performances of the season.

How It Happened

First Half
The Prairie Wolves wasted no time setting the tone. In the fifth minute, junior forward Averie Hike broke through the Coe back line and buried a ball from Kimmee Davenport that slipped through traffic for the early 1-0 lead. Coe answered just four minutes later, capitalizing in the box to even the match at 1-1.

Nebraska Wesleyan kept pressing forward with several dangerous chances, including a hard shot from Emma Parker in the 19th minute that forced a save. Goalkeeper Jena Schultz came up big at the other end, recording a crucial save in the 21st minute to keep things level.

The Prairie Wolves regained control in the 29th minute. Off a perfect service from Hannah Churchill, Parker rose above the defense and nodded home a header to push NWU back in front, 2-1. Schultz continued to anchor the defense, tallying five saves in the opening 45 minutes as the Prairie Wolves took their one-goal lead into halftime.

Second Half
Nebraska Wesleyan maintained its attacking rhythm after the break. Hike and Emily Abeyta each fired on-frame shots in the early minutes of the second half, keeping the Kohawks under constant pressure.

The insurance goal came in the 80th minute when sophomore defender Emily Jasa beat the keeper to extend the lead to 3-1 and seal the victory. The strike marked Jasa's second goal of the year as the Prairie Wolves finished their season strong with their ninth all-time win over Coe.

Schultz remained steady in goal, finishing the day with seven saves as Nebraska Wesleyan controlled play in the midfield and limited Coe's opportunities in the second half.
