Football Welcomes #7 Wartburg to Abel Stadium, Saturday

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan football will host Wartburg at Abel Stadium on Saturday, November 1st.

GAME TIME, LOCATION, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Kick off for Saturday's game is set for 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at Abel Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats. 

SCOUTING NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Team: Nebraska Wesleyan enters this weekend fresh after a bye week. The Prairie Wolves last played on Saturday, October 18th, falling to nationally ranked Central 34-13. The Prairie Wolves score an average of 18.43 points per game and allow 30.29 points per game. Offensively, NWU has put up 2,324 total yards, while averaging 332 yards per game. The Prairie Wolves average 202.57 yards through the air, and 129.4 yards on the ground, while picking up 126 first downs. Defensively NWU allows 343.3 yards per game, and has given up 133 first downs. 

Offense: Junior Connor White will make his seventh start under center for Nebraska Wesleyan. White enters this weekend having completed 115 of 192 passes for 1,124 yards and seven touchdowns. White's favorite target is Joey McLaughlin, who leads the team with 49 receptions, 664 yards and eight touchdowns. However, Corbin Horner, Trystin Myers and Jaheim Felder also make their presence known in the passing game with each recording 12 or more receptions. In the running game, NWU turns to Trystin Myers, who has had 101 rushing attempts for 640 yards and four touchdowns. 

Defense: Defensively Nebraska Wesleyan looks to Hunte Hanke, who leads the team with 52 tackles, while forcing three fumbles, and recording 9.5 tackles for loss, including five sacks. The Prairie Wolves feature a dynamic linebacker unit, with Carlos Porter and Jian Aguilar combining to make 95 tackles, and force two fumbles. Aguilar also works in pass defense, recording one interception and breaking up two passes. In the secondary, defensive backs Antonio Martinez, Kelby Zimmerman, and Darrius Paige have each recorded one interception.

Special Teams: In the kicking game, Jace Winkler is 3-7 on field goal attempts, with a long of 44. Winkler also doubles as NWU's punter, averaging 40.26 yards per punt, with a long of 68 yards.

HEAD COACH BRIAN KELLER
Coach Brian Keller is in his 30th season at the helm of Nebraska Wesleyan football in 2025, continuing a legendary run as the winningest coach in program history. A Nebraska Wesleyan graduate and former player, Keller has led his alma mater since 1996, compiling a career record of 133-156. 

SINGLE DIGIT TRADITION
Individuals that best represent the culture of Nebraska Wesleyan's football program are awarded single digit jerseys. The program awards the jerseys by player vote and coach input. The characteristics of players wearing a single digit uniform are Fortitude, Attitude, Integrity, Trust, and Humility or (F.A.I.T.H). This year, 13 players earned a single digit jersey. Joey McLaughlin (0), Owen Long (0), Jaheim Felder (1), Caiden Rose (2), Owen Anthony (2*), Connor White (3*), Ryan Stortenbecker (5), Jian Aguilar (5), Chevalier Curry (6), Jake Rhodes (7*), Kyle Moss (8), Caleb Ohlrich (9*), and Hunter Hanke (9). Connor White elected to wear #10. By rule offensive linemen Owen Anthony, Jake Rhodes, and Caleb Ohlrich are not allowed to wear single digit numbers during  games but wear "honorary" single digit numbers during practice.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN FOOTBALL TRADITION
Established in 1896, NWU football has amassed over 500 wins and claimed 22 conference championships. The Prairie Wolves are also a national academic powerhouse, ranking seventh among all football programs for CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

SCOUTING WARTBURG COLLEGE
Wartburg enters this week 8-0, after a 28-13 victory over #14 Central College. The Knights average 27.25 points and 378.8 yards per game. Defensively, the Knights are tough, allowing just 8.75 points and 261.4 yards per game. Wartburg is led by  Chris Winter, in his fifth season. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST WARTBURG COLLEGE
Saturday will mark the ninth meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Wartburg. The Prairie Wolves are 0-8 against the Knights.
