Men's Basketball Handles Luther in 66-44 victory

DECORAH, Iowa. – Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball dominated Luther College from start to finish in a 66-44 victory Saturday afternoon. With the win, Nebraska Wesleyan improves to 14-4 overall, and 7-2 in conference play, while Luther drops to 1-16 and 0-9 in league action. 

How It Happened

Jack Groeteke powered Nebraska Wesleyan early, scoring the teams first nine points, as NWU jumped out to a 9-2 lead. The Norse rallied back with an 8-0 run to take a 10-9 lead, before Nick Howard stole the momentum and put the Black and Gold up 12-10. Luther would go on to outscore Nebraska Wesleyan 4-2 over the ensuing 1:30 to tie the game at 14 with just under 12 minutes to play until halftime. From there is was all Prairie Wolves as NWU went on a 16-0 run to close the half. Nebraska Wesleyan saw great ball distribution during the run as six players hit at least one shot, while Jack Groeteke stole the show with 11 first half points. 

Luther came out of the locker room fired up and went on a quick 6-0 run which cut the NWU lead to 10, before a Christian Winn three put the Prairie Wolves back up by 13. From there Luther got to work, going on a 13-2 run to make it a one possession game with 11:30 to go in the game. However, Nebraska Wesleyan doused any hope of a comeback with a 15-0 run that was led by a 10 point outburst from Carter Glenn. The rest of the game saw both teams trade baskets, with Nebraska Wesleyan keeping Luther at arms reach and securing an A-R-C road victory.
