HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan University had a tough match against Illinois College on September 1, 2024, in Jacksonville, Illinois. The Prairie Wolves fell to the Lady Blues, losing 1-0 in a closely contested game.
The Lady Blues struck early, with Haley Sommer scoring the only goal of the match at the 5:20 mark, assisted by Kayla Piper. Despite their best efforts, the Prairie Wolves were unable to find the back of the net, ending the first half trailing 1-0.
Nebraska Wesleyan tried to rally in the second half, increasing their shot count and putting pressure on Illinois College. However, their efforts were denied by the Lady Blues' defense. The Prairie Wolves managed to take five shots in the second half, but none were on target.
The Prairie Wolves' defense held strong, not allowing any second-half goals, but the early goal by Sommer was enough to seal the victory for Illinois College. Nebraska Wesleyan's goalkeeper,
Jena Schultz, played the full 90 minutes but was unable to record any saves due to Illinois College's single shot on target.
