Men's Basketball Finishes Ninth in D3hoops.com Men's Top 25, 2023-24 Final Poll

Lincoln, Neb. (March 19th, 2024)- Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball was ranked ninth in the final D3hoops.com poll of the 2023-24 season. The ranking comes after Nebraska Wesleyan's run to the Elite Eight in the NCAA DIII National Tournament and is the Prairie Wolves' highest finish since finishing seventh in the 2018-19 season.

The 2023-24 season saw Nebraska Wesleyan reestablish itself as one of the premier basketball teams in the country. The Prairie Wolves finished with their highest overall and conference winning percentage since the 2019-20 season, winning 83.9 percent of their games and 81.2 percent of their games against conference foes. Nebraska Wesleyan finished the year with 26 wins for the first time since winning 27 in the 2018-19 season. The Black and Gold's 13 conference victories clinched Nebraska Wesleyan's first American Rivers Conference regular season title since the 2019-20 season. The Prairie Wolves made the NCAA Tournament and won a tournament game for the first time since the 2019-20 season, and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time since winning the National Championship in 2017-18.

The Prairie Wolves were led by first team All-Conference guards Peter Lash and Carter Glenn, along with All-Conference honorable mention forward Jack Groeteke. In tournament play, Lash averaged 17 points and 11.25 rebounds per game, including a 21 rebound performance in NWU's first round victory over Centenary College (LA). Carter Glenn averaged 16 points and 5.5 assists per game. Jack Groeteke averaged 10.75 points and 2.5 blocks per game.

Next season, Nebraska Wesleyan will lose three seniors, but return four of five starters, including Lash, Glenn, and Groeteke.
