LINCOLN, Neb. (February 24, 2024) - On Saturday night, Loras College clinched an 85-76 victory over #17 Nebraska Wesleyan University in the A-R-C Championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Prairie Wolves started the first half strong, securing a 17-11 lead with 13:49 remaining, courtesy of a three-pointer from Carter Glenn.
- As the opening half progressed, a back-and-forth scoring match unfolded, with the Duhawks gradually closing the gap and eventually tying the game at 31-31 with 6:29 remaining.
- With both teams trading the lead in the final minutes, a layup from Conner Brown at the buzzer gave the Black and Gold a two-point lead going into the break, 44-42.
- During the first half, NWU found themselves hot from behind the arc, shooting 63.6% from three-point range.
- Coming out of halftime, both teams capitalized on crucial shots in the early minutes. NWU gained momentum after a three-pointer from Jack Groeteke, propelling Nebraska Wesleyan to a 54-50 lead with 15:44 remaining.
- With 6:36 left on the clock, Carter Glenn drained a three-pointer to extend the Prairie Wolvess lead to 62-56.
- Despite NWU's efforts, the Duhawks continued to make shots in the final minutes of the second half, eventually tying the game at 69-69 and forcing the game into overtime.
- As overtime began, Loras quickly gained the lead, taking an 81-74 advantage with 1:33 remaining.
- A layup from Elijah Thatch with 17 seconds left narrowed the score, but unfortunately, Loras College secured the victory, 76-85.
- The Prairie Wolves fall to 23-4 on the season.
