DUBUQUE, Iowa (November 9th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan University football team fell 32-22 to Loras College on the road Saturday, bringing the Prairie Wolves' record to 3-6 overall and 2-5 in American Rivers Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Prairie Wolves struck first, taking a 7-0 lead with a 67-yard touchdown pass from
Connor White to
Joey McLaughlin after
Terrell Davis intercepted a pass from Joey Helminiak. However, Loras quickly answered with a seven-play, 71-yard drive to tie the game. Following an interception of White, the Duhawks took a 13-7 lead on a one-yard touchdown run. Nebraska Wesleyan regained the lead with a
Jackson Byers touchdown run, finishing a 14-play, 74-yard drive. Loras then responded with 10 unanswered points in the second quarter, going into halftime up 23-14.
Loras extended their lead in the third quarter with a field goal, marking the only points scored in the period. In the fourth, an interception set Loras up at NWU's three-yard line, where they scored to increase their lead to 32-14. Nebraska Wesleyan narrowed the gap as Marcus Hernandez scored on a 14-yard touchdown run, followed by a two-point conversion by Martinez. Despite their efforts, the Prairie Wolves couldn't complete the comeback, and Loras held on to seal the win.
