2023 Prairie Wolf Preview: Football

LINCOLN, Neb. (August 29, 2023) - Nebraska Wesleyan football is set to open the 2023 season in Sherman, Texas against Austin College on Saturday, Sept. 2. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. in Jerry E. Apple Stadium. 

2022 SEASON RECAP:
  • The Prairie Wolves finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 1-9 and an American Rivers Conference record of 0-8.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan had one athlete earn All-Conference honors, as well as three others named an honorable mention.
  • Trystin Myers, Cole Siems, and Carter Terry represented the Black and Gold on the Omaha World Herald's All-Midlands team.
  • Coach Keller's team led the A-R-C in All-Academic football honors with 22 student-athletes.
  • Trystin Myers finished third in the A-R-C with 845 rushing yards. 
  • Carter Terry finished third in the A-R-C with 2,668 total yards of offense.


2023 SEASON PREVIEW:
  • Nebraska Wesleyan returns 50 varsity letter-winners, including All-Conference members: Carter Terry, Trystin Myers, Aashton Kirkland and Tad Naiberk
  • The Prairie Wolves will welcome a group of 59 first-year athletes and seven transfers. 
  • The Black and Gold were projected to finish ninth in the A-R-C Preseason Coaches' Poll.
HEAD COACH BRIAN KELLER'S COMMENTS:
  • "The thing I have noticed about this group, they are very competitive and very willing to work hard."
  • "Coach Lawrence made an immediate impact. He brings alot of enthusiasm and excitement. I can see a huge difference on the defensive side of the ball."
UP NEXT: 
  • The Prairie Wolves open the season Saturday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. against an unfamiliar foe in Austin College in what will be the first matchup between these programs.
