Baseball Takes a Tough Blow Against Wartburg College in Final Series

Game 1
  • It was a tough series opener for Nebraska Wesleyan University, as they lost 9-2 to Wartburg College.
  • The Prairie Wolves scored their only two runs in the first three innings. Noah Unger drove in the first with a single up the middle. Kaleb Knox followed in the third inning with an RBI single down the third base line.
  • The Knights would go on to score seven runs after matching NWU's score, securing a 9-2 victory.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan totaled six hits to Wartburg's 16. 
  • Tyson Romero was handed the loss for the Prairie Wolves. The righty lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out four.
Game 2
  • Nebraska Wesleyan University was unable to close out Game 2 of the series, as they gave of four runs in the ninth and lost to the Knights, 9-5.
  • Down three heading in the seventh, Duncan Ortega tied things up for the Prairie Wolves with a three-run shot over the left field wall. Ortega's home run was NWU's second of the day. Jason English recorded a four bagger in the fifth inning.
  • Each team scored one run in the eighth. 
  • The Knights put together a four run rally in the ninth that was too big to overcome for NWU.
  • Carter Betts and Christian Harris each collected multiple hits for Nebraska Wesleyan University.
  • Reliever, Bryson Knapp took the loss for the Prairie Wolves. Knapp allowed two hits and four runs over one inning, striking out one.
  • Alejandro Espinoza started the game for the black and gold, allowing ten hits and five runs over eight innings, striking out nine.
