Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Struggles Offensively in A-R-C Opener

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • Emma Alfieri got things going for the Prairie Wolves offensively with a line drive single to left field. Catcher Val Gerlach was able to put the ball in play and Alfieri scored on a Kohawk error giving the home squad a 1-0 lead after the first inning.
  • After a scoreless first inning for Elise Warneke in the center circle, the Kohawks responded with three runs in the second inning.
  • In the third inning Alfieri again was a spark for the black and gold offense. Alfieri secured her second single of the game. Jenna Kimberling reached base on an error. The Prairie Wolves were unable to get any runs across leaving two runners on base.
  • The Kohawks extended their lead going in to the bottom of the seventh, 8-1. In the end, 19 runners left on base was enough to spell doom for the NWU team, 8-1.
Game 2
  • In the later of the double header, the Prairie Wolves struggles in the center circle. A first inning homerun for the Kohawks gave Coe a 4-0 lead after the first.
  • Alfieri and Kimberling continued their ways at the plate getting into the hit colum again.
  • The Kohawks scored four more runs in the third inning which included two errors defensively for Coach Mary Yori's team.
  • Sami MacDonald drove in Addy Buhman in the bottom of the fourth inning to get the Prairie Wolves on the score board.
  • Coe would add three more runs in the fifth inning before the sun set on the Prairie Wolves day 16-1.
