Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Slow Start Hurts Men's Basketball in 70-63 Loss at Coe

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Early on it was all Coe as the Kohawks got out to a quick 8-0 start just 2:08 into the game.
  • Throughout the remainder of the first half, the Prairie Wolves' shots started to start falling. The bad news for the Prairie Wolves, they still trailed 38-30 at the end of the first half.
  • Landon Torneton scored the first bucket of the second half, but the Kohawks responded scoring the next six points.
  • Coach Wellman went to the bench looking for a spark. With the second unit in the game, the Prairie Wolves cut the Coe lead to just two. The Kohawks responded after a timeout with a 10-0 run that included two three-pointers.
  • The Black and Gold once again clawed their way back into the game as a Jack Groeteke dunk cut the lead to within four with 59 seconds to play. Ultimately, the Kohawks were able to convert on their free throws down the stretch to win the game.
  • During the second half of the game, sophomore Peter Lash converted three free throws after being fouled on a three-point attempt. The second of the three was Lash's 1000th point as a Prairie Wolf. Lash is the second-fastest player to reach 1000 points in the Dale Wellman era, as he did so in 56 games.
