Slow Start Dooms Women's Basketball in Loss to Midland

Box Score Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to 0-8 following a 63-37 loss to Midland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grace Hogeland led Nebraska Wesleyan with 11 points on a .444 shooting percentage. Hogeland also recorded two rebounds and had one assist.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan got out to a slow start, scoring just five first quarter points on a 16.7% shooting percentage. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves fought hard but couldn't completely control the Midland offense. Nebraska Wesleyan trailed 13-5 after one quarter of play.
  • The second quarter saw both Midland and Nebraska Wesleyan pick up the pace offensively. Midland scored 21 points while Nebraska Wesleyan scored 13. The Prairie Wolves shot over 35% from the floor in the second quarter but trailed 34-18 at the break.
  • The defenses stepped up in the third quarter as neither team shot over 30% from the floor. Midland extended their lead to 48-28.
  • Midland continued to pull away in the fourth quarter and secured a 63-37 victory.
