Women's Soccer Held Scoreless in First Road Game

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Doane's offense came out resilient in the first period. The Tigers attempted 18 more shots than the Prairie Wolves. 
  • Between the 27th and 36th-minute mark, Doane's Lexi Torok connected on two goals to give the Tigers an early lead, 0-2. 
  • Nebraska Wesleyan's Simone Collins and Bryce Melis were the only two women to attempt a shot in the first period. 
  • Coming out of the break, Coach Dyson made a substitution at goalie. Alizsabeth Sanne entered the game for the first time this season for Jena Schultz
  • The change slowed down the Tigers' offense until the 62nd-minute mark of the second period. Off a penalty kick, Doan eextended the score to 0-3.
  • Things became more physical for both teams in the final 45 minutes. Nine fouls were called, eight more than the first period. 
  • Four games in seven days finally caught up to the Prairie Wolves. The Tigers went on to score two more goals in the final 23 minutes and handed NWU their first loss of the season.

  • The Prairie Wolves (3-1, 0-0) take on the south as they travel to Memphis, Tennessee. On Saturday, September 10, NWU meets Midwest foe, Illinois College, in a neutral site game.
