Men’s Tennis Season Comes To A Close In A-R-C Quarterfinals

WAVERLY, Iowa (May 3, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team season came to a close in the American Rivers Conference tournament with a 5-0 loss at Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa.

The Knights put the Prairie Wolves on the ropes early after winning all three doubles points. NWU's tandem of Jacob Balfany and Max Rademacher almost spoiled the run. The duo was narrowly defeated, 8-6, at No. 2 Doubles. Wartburg claimed both No. 1 and No. 3 Doubles by a score of 8-4.

Nebraska Wesleyan looked to bounce back in singles action. But the Knights won No. 1 and No. 2 Singles to pick up the two points needed to clinch the match. Once the match was cliched by Wartburg, No. 3 through No. 6 Singles went unfinished.

The postseason appearance was the first for the Prairie Wolves since 2019 and just the third appearance since joining the A-R-C in 2016. Additionally, it was the first conference tournament for head coach Lee Steinbrook

NWU loses two seniors on its roster, Vihn Le and Cole Lohoefener, and returns seven players for next year.
