Women’s Basketball Falls In Series Finale


LINCOLN, Neb. (February 19, 2022) – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team fell, 69-54, to Coe College in its final game of the 2021-2022 season. 

The Prairie Wolves struggled to open the game, going scoreless over the first four minutes then Coe jumped out to a 17–10 lead after one quarter. In the second quarter, NWU found an offensive rythme, shooting 40 percent from the three-point arc but couldn't make up any ground, trailing by seven at the halftime break.

NWU kept pace with the Kohawks in the third quarter but again couldn't cut the lead down. The Prairie Wolves shot 40 percent from the three-point line but Coe maintained the lead after hitting three three-pointers in the frame. In the final quarter, the Kohawks outscored Nebraska Wesleyan 21-13 to pull away. 

The Prairie Wolves won the rebounding margin by four boards, its the first time over the last five games they finished with more rebounds in a game. NWU shot just 33.9 percent from the field and went 37.3 percent from the three-point line. 

Delaney Roberts carried NWU with 13 points and five assists. Roberts ended the season with four assists or more in back-to-back games. Brianna Denton netted 10 points, scoring in double figures for the first time since January 12.
