Men's Basketball Can't Complete Second Half Comeback to Mary Hardin-Baylor

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Nebraska Wesleyan fell short on Saturday to Mary Hardin-Baylor, losing 67-74.
  • With under four minutes to play in the first half, the Prairie Wolves cut their deficit to seven with back-to-back free throws from Landon Torneten and a three-pointer by Peter Lash.
  • Walker Andrew closed out the first twenty minutes with a made basket from behind the arc. Coach Wellman's squad found themselves down six at the break, 28-34.
  • Down 10 with 17:49 remaining in the game, the black and gold's offense exploded. Nebraska Wesleyan went on an 19-0 run to take the lead, 48-40. 
  • Despite shooting just 13.6% from three, the Crusaders made a living inside the paint in the second half. Mary Hardin-Baylor shot an impressive 59.3% from the field and inched their way back into the game with just eight minutes left in regulation, respectfully, 50-50.
  • A handful of late Prairie Wolf turnovers stunted their second half comeback and Nebraska Wesleyan lost 67-74. 
  • Sophomore Peter Lash showed out again in Texas. Lash led NWU in scoring with 26 points and was one rebound shy of his sixth double-double of the season.
