Women's Basketball Can't Rally Past the Spartans

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A slow first quarter for Nebraska Wesleyan's offense put the Prairie Wolves down 15 after the first 10 minutes, 12-27.
  • The black and gold found some momentum in the second quarter as they outscored the Spartans 17-15. Brianna Denton hit back-to-back three pointers for Nebraska Wesleyan before heading into the break. Coach Bullock's team went 4-9 from behind the arc in the second quarter, 29-42. 
  • Turnovers hurt the Prairie Wolves in the first half. NWU committed 10 to Dubuque's six
  • The black and gold ended the third quarter on a high note as Sarah Hultquist and Ellie Bream both got shots to fall. Nebraska Wesleyan found themselves within 13 points of tying the game up, 45-58.
  • Coach Bullock's squad couldn't buy a basket in the closing minutes. The Prairie Wolves scored just seven points in the fourth quarter and shot 3-for-11 from the field. The Spartans outscored NWU 15-7.
  • Dubuque successfully defended their home court and defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 52-73. The Prairie Wolves fall to 5-5 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

  • "We put ourselves in a spot that was hard to overcome. Starting off slow is something we will continue to try and fix as the season progresses."
UP NEXT
The Prairie Wolves take the rest of December off to enjoy the holiday season and jump back into action on Tuesday, January 3. They travel to St. Bonifacius, Minnesota to take on Crown College. Tip-off time is still to be determined.
