Football Clashes With Buena Vista in Saturday Skirmish

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trystin Myers' 77-yard touchdown reception for Nebraska Wesleyan gave the Prairie Wolves an early 7-0 lead. Myers scored his fifth touchdown of the year with the reception.
  • Carter Terry again connected with Meyers for a touchdown throw of 19 yards to level the score at 14-14. Meyers produced all 57 yards on the touchdown drive. 
  • A Buena Vista pass was intercepted by Max Brinker, and Austin Neufeld added a field goal from 24 yards out to trim the deficit to 17-21. Neufeld is now 4-6 on field goals this season.
  • With Buena Vista driving at the Nebraska Wesleyan 14-yard line, Branden DeVoy forced a fumble that was recovered by Jacob Leu to give Nebraska Wesleyan the possession.
  • Just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Prairie Wolves were able to close the gap to 35-25, thanks to a one-yard run by Nathan Minarik and a successful two-point attempt.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan had one more opportunity, but Terry was picked off and returned for a Beavers score to end the game in a 42-25 Buena Vista victory.

  • "We are continuing to strive for consistency as an entire team. The struggles we have had the past 2-3 weeks have remained the same."
  • "We played well as a group in the 1st quarter, struggled on defense in the 2nd quarter, did not play well offensively in the 3rd, better in the 4th, but then had problems on the defensive side…"
  • "This team is resilient. I'm confident they will rebound this week and attempt to put together four complete quarters of good football next week…"
