Offensive Bursts Gives Women’s Soccer Convincing Win

MOORHEAD, Minn. (September 11, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer earned its first neutral site win of the season with a 6-0 victory over Minnesota Morris in Moorhead, Minnesota. The six goals in a game are the most by NWU since April 7, 2021.

The scoring outburst started early for the Prairie Wolves. Just five minutes into the game, Christina Oleartchick netted a goal on a pass from Simone Collins. Less than a minute later, Megan Cooper drilled a goal to make it a 2-0 advantage. 

At the 10 minute mark, Sabrina Ochterbeck added another goal for Nebraska Wesleyan. Ochterbeck sank the goal off of a pass from Hannah Holles. Eight minutes later, Olivia Munroe pushed the first half lead to 4-0 with a goal. Munroe's goal was assisted by Ochterbeck. 

In the second half, the Prairie Wolves stayed on the offensive attack with two more goals in the half. Camila Munoz scored the team's fifth goal of the game in the 47th minute. Munoz connected on the goal off of a pass from Hannah Ghannam. NWU's final goal game came in the 68th minute when Oleartchick found Aniaya Reed and Reed found the net.

The defensive backline pitched Nebraska Wesleyan's second shutout of the year and only allowed three shots all game. In goal, Leslie Borges and Liz Wolf combined for three saves.

The goals by Oleartchick, Cooper, and Munoz were all the first of the season by those student-athletes.
