Women’s Soccer Races Past Doane With A Pair of First-Half Goals

Box Score
LINCOLN, Neb. (Sept.1, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer (1-0) used a pair of goals in the first half to race past Doane University in Abel Stadium.

The Prairie Wolves wasted little time putting points on the board for a very early lead. Around the four-minute mark, Olivia Munroe used a pass from Liz Frisch to sink a goal past the Tiger goalkeeper. NWU went on the offensive attack for its second first-half goal in the 17th minute. Megan Cooper sailed a corner kick into the box, where the ball found Lauren Keith for an insurance goal and moved the lead to 2-0.

Nebraska Wesleyan has won its last three non-conference season-openers by a combined score of 11-1, which includes two wins over Doane. The match was NWU's first non-conference contest since the 2019 season due to the COVID-19 global health pandemic.

UP NEXT
The Prairie Wolves continue their homestand on Friday, September 3 with a 6 p.m. match against Illinois College.
