Bishops Fend Off Prairie Wolves

WHEATON, Ill. (November 20, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team fell to Ohio Wesleyan, 83-77, in the consolation game of the Wheaton College Invitational in Wheaton, Illinois.

An ice cold first half of shooting proved to be too much for the Prairie Wolves to overcome down the stretch. NWU was just 2-for-18 from the three-point arc and shot 35.3 percent in the opening half as Ohio Wesleyan capitalized for a 15-point halftime lead. The Bishops stretched the lead in the second half to 23 points before Nebraska Wesleyan rallied back.

With 6:46 left in the game, Connor Riekenberg converted an old fashioned three-point play to ignite a rally and make it a two possession game. NWU went on a 19-3 over the next five minutes to make a 76-69 OWU lead with just over 1:30 left in the game. However, the late run would not be enough as Ohio Wesleyan would not let the Prairie Wolves get within six points the rest of the way.

Nebraska Wesleyan had three players score in double-figures, led by Peter Lash with 18 points. Lash was a rebound away from his second double-double of the season. Carter Glenn recorded 17 points and Riekenberg added 12 points. Josh Rogers tallied a team-best five assists.
