Cross Country Competes In NCAA Midwest Regional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (November 13, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2021 NCAA Midwest Regional at Rock Island, Illinois. NWU's team finished 12th and the women's team finished 13th. The regional field had five nationally ranked men's teams and three nationally ranked women's teams.

Gabby Thomas led the Prairie Wolves in the women's race with a time of 22:29.5. The time good enough to place Thomas 21st in the race. McKenna Marsh ran a 23:44.8 to finish 64th and Camryn Larsen ended in the top 80 runners with a time of 24:01.7. Josephine Blatny trekked the course in a time of 24:37.5 with Thea Seibel following with a time of 24:50.9 to round out NWU's top five.

Norbert Weijenberg paced the Nebraska Wesleyan men's team with a time of 25:33.6 to place 47th in the field. Grant Reid was 65th with a time of 26:08.4. Colby Karr and Kellen McLaughlin ended just less than a second apart from each other. Karr ran a time of 26:16.2 and McLaughlin was at 26:17.0. The Prairie Wolves' top five was rounded out with a time of 27:47.0 from Mason Coulter.

Nebraska Wesleyan awaits the selection of the NCAA Division III National Championship field. An announcement on nationals will be made early next week.
