LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan will kick off their 2019 football season this Saturday (Sept. 7) when they host Westminster College.  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and the Blue Jays is set for 1:00 pm at Abel Stadium.
 
NWU is coming off a 2018 season where they finished 3-7 overall and 2-6 in the American Rivers Conference to place seventh in the league standings.  The Prairie Wolves return three starters on offense and four on defense from the 2018 squad.  NWU was picked to finish 7^th in the 2019 A-R-C Coaches' Preseason Poll.
 
Westminster College, an NCAA III institution located in Fulton, Mo., was picked to finish fifth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).  They finished 3-6 in 2018 to tie for fifth in their conference.  The Blue Jays return their leading rusher on offense and eight starters from a defense that was 2^nd in the UMAC in total defense.
 
This will be the first ever meeting in football between Nebraska Wesleyan and Westminster.  It is also the first time since 1991 that the Prairie Wolves are taking on a school from the state of Missouri in football.
