CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan saw their season come to an end on Friday (May 3) falling 5-0 to No. 3 seed Central College at the 2019 American Rivers Conference Men's Tennis Automatic Qualifier that was hosted by Coe College. The Prairie Wolves, who were the No. 6 seed in the tournament, finish the season with a 4-13 overall record.
Central advances to the conference tournament semifinals that will be held on Saturday morning.
The Dutch won all three doubles matches to get the early advantage. They won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, then posted 8-5 victories at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Gabriel Sellmer and
Spencer Anderson played No. 1 doubles for the Prairie Wolves.
Jared Scherling and
Nathan Seaton were the No. 2 doubles group then
Vinh Le and
Cole Lohoefener played at No. 3 doubles.
Needing only two singles wins to clinch the match victory, William Isiminger defeated
Gabriel Sellmer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Ethan St. John won 6-0, 6-2 over
Matt Errett at No. 6 singles to finish the match with the score of 5-0.
This was the second time in the past three years the Prairie Wolves qualified for the conference postseason tournament.
