Key Road Game Saturday With Two Teams Needing a Win

The Nebraska Wesleyan football team will hit the road one final time this season as they travel to Decorah, Iowa to play Luther College in American Rivers Conference football action on Saturday (Nov. 9).  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Norse is set for 12 p.m. at Carlson Field.

Saturday's contest features two teams desperately looking for a victory.  The Prairie Wolves bring a five-game losing streak into the game sitting at 3-5 overall and 1-5 in league play.  On the other sidelines, the Norse have struggled this season as one of 18 teams in NCAA III football still looking for their first win.  Luther is 0-8 overall and 0-6 in conference having lost 12 straight games dating back to last season.

NWU looked primed to snap their losing streak last Saturday at home against Loras scoring on their first two offensive possessions.  From there, the Prairie Wolves offense was held scoreless and the Duhawks were able to get in the end zone three times to come away with a 21-14 win.

This Saturday, the offense has the opportunity to get rolling facing a Norse defense that is last in the country allowing 530.5 points per game.  They have given up at least 45 points in every conference game this season.

Luther is the top rushing team in the American Rivers Conference averaging 223.8 yards per game.  They face a NWU rush defense that ranks 8th in the league allowing 219.6 yards a game on the ground.

Those not traveling to the game can hear the action locally on KFOR Radio 1240 AM/103.3 FM with Darin Svenson handling the play-by-play duties for the radio and the Luther College video webcast.
