DUBUQUE, Iowa – University of Dubuque scored the only goal of the match late in the second half as the Spartans defeated the Prairie Wolves 1-0 in the American Rivers Conference men's soccer opener on Saturday night (Oct. 5) in Dubuque, Iowa.
Alessandro Corazzina scored the goal for the Spartans in the 78
th minute that was the lone goal of the match leaving the Prairie Wolves on the short side in the conference opener.
It marks only the second time this season that the NWU men's soccer team has been shutout.
NWU outshot Dubuque 13-9 and had four shots on goal, but they were unable to convert any of the shots into goals.
Five different Prairie Wolves had two shot attempts in the match, but Dubuque goalie Brandon White was able to keep them from scoring.
The Prairie Wolves will try to rebound on Sunday when they travel to Augsburg University.
