Football Opens November by Hosting Loras Saturday

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team will return to Abel Stadium/Weary Field on Saturday (Nov. 2) to host Loras College in American Rivers Conference football action.  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and the Duhawks is set for 1 pm.

Nebraska Wesleyan is 3-4 on the season and 1-4 in American Rivers Conference action.  The Prairie Wolves hope the month of November is similar to September rather than October when NWU lost all four games.  NWU went 3-0 to start the season in the opening month and they want to end the 2019 season strong starting on Saturday against Loras.

Loras College also brings a 3-4 overall record into Saturday's matchup.  The Duhawks are 2-3 in conference play having won two of their past three games, including a 40-39 overtime victory last week over Buena Vista.

This will be the fourth meeting between NWU and Loras in football and the third time the two teams will play in Lincoln. Loras leads the series 2-1 but the series is even at 1-1 at Abel Stadium.

NWU had their best statistical offensive performance last Saturday piling up a season-high 548 yards of total offense on 98 total plays.  Quarterback Jonathan Curti broke three individual game records for total offense (497 yards), completions (39) and pass attempts.  All three records were previously held by Curti.  They will need the offense to keep producing on Saturday to keep up with Loras.

Loras has scored over 30 points in each of their last four games and they rank 3rd in the conference in scoring.  They are led by quarterback Noah Sigwerth who is the team's top passer and rusher.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live locally on LNK TV Education channel and streamed live via webcast courtesy of the NWU Sports Network.  The games can be found on Allo Channel 23, Charter Spectrum 1303 or Windstream Kinetic 1080.  Jeff Motz and John Harris will be handling the broadcast duties.

In addition, the game can be heard on KFOR 1240 AM/103.3 FM or online at kfornow.com with Dick Janda calling the action.
