Storm Shutout NWU Women To End Postseason Hopes

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Needing to win to earn a spot in the conference postseason tournament the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team was unable to come through with a goal as Simpson College shut out the Prairie Wolves 1-0 on Tuesday (Oct. 29) in the American Rivers Conference regular season finale.

NWU ends their season with a 12-6 overall record, going 3-5 in conference play to finish seventh in the league standings, missing the postseason by one place.

Like they have most of the year, the Prairie Wolves outshot their opponent in the match, just couldn't convert the shots into goals.  NWU ended the match with 17 total shots, compared to 12 for the Storm.  Six of the shots were on goal, with Simpson converting one of them for the lone goal of the match.

Baileigh Nagy scored the only goal in the 48th minute off an assist by Megan Roberts.  The goal was scored off a breakaway from a through ball.

Nebraska Wesleyan's 12 victories were the most by a women's soccer team since 2006.  It also marks the first winning season since 2014, a four-win improvement from last season.
