INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer season came to a close on Tuesday night (Oct. 29) with a 3-0 loss at Simpson College in American Rivers Conference action.
NWU finished the 2019 season with a 7-8-3 overall record going 1-6-1 in American Rivers action. Simpson continues their successful season as they move to 15-3-2 and 5-2-1 in league play.
The Storm scored their first goal in the 8
th minute when Jorday Triana-Vasquez found the open net off a cross to make the score 1-0. That was the only goal of the first period as the Prairie Wolves trailed only by one heading into the halftime break.
Simpson added two more goals in the second half with Ian Dean scoring in the 59
th minute and Mason Madren scored the final goal of the match in the 78
th minute.
Total shots were in the favor of Simpson by ten with the Storm getting 17 attempts and NWU only seven. Four of the seven Prairie Wolves shots were on goal but they were unable to score. The Prairie Wolves were held scoreless in six of eight conference matches.
It also marked the final match for three Prairie Wolves seniors,
David Zink,
Tanner Wood and
Alex Drent who played for a last time in a NWU uniform.
