Wolves Set For Road Contest at 11th-Ranked Wartburg

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan football team will look to put their homecoming loss from one week ago behind them when they return to the field this Saturday (Oct. 12) traveling to Waverly, Iowa to face Wartburg College in American Rivers Conference football action.  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Knights is set for 1:30 pm.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan faces a tough challenge this Saturday taking on undefeated and nationally-ranked Warburg.  The Knights moved up to No. 11 in this week's AFCA/Division III Top 25 poll.
 
The Prairie Wolves are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.  They have never beaten Wartburg in football since the teams became conference foes three years ago.  NWU is also looking for their first win against a ranked team since 2015.
 
Wartburg sits at 5-0 overall, 3-0 in American Rivers.  The Knights rank 5th in NCAA Division III averaging 50 points a game, outscoring their first five opponents by an average of 32 points a game.  In their past two games, the Knights have fallen behind early then rallied back late to earn the victory.
 
This Saturday is homecoming on the Wartburg campus, the third straight homecoming game the Prairie Wolves are participating in.
