DUBUQUE, Iowa – Loras College outscored Nebraska Wesleyan by 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Duhawks broke open a tie game to earn a 83-70 victory over the Prairie Wolves on Saturday afternoon at Lillis Court in Dubuque, Iowa in American Rivers Conference women's basketball action.
The game was tied at 60-60 starting the fourth quarter but NWU was only 4-13 from the field in the final period while Loras shot 75 percent in the fourth quarter to earn the win and win their 12
th game in the last 13 games.
NWU was behind by four points after the opening period but a huge second quarter saw the Prairie Wolves surge ahead. The Prairie Wolves shot 66.7 percent overall making 6-9 from 3-point range in the second quarter scoring 30 points to take a 40-35 halftime lead.
Loras outscored NWU by five points in the third quarter, despite the Prairie Wolves shooting 61.9 percent. That tied the game at 60-60 heading to the fourth quarter.
The Duhawks hit 9-12 shots in the fourth quarter to score 23 points, while NWU struggled from the field scoring just 10 points.
Loras was dominant on the glass with a +23 advantage in rebounding over NWU, including 23 offensive rebounds.
Bailey Hallgren Meehan led the Prairie Wolves with 14 point as she was one of four players to reach double figures. Meehan was 4-7 from 3-poitn range to lead the team.
Mikenzie Delgado made three 3-pointers to score 13 points and
Caitlin Navratil had 11 points with six assists.
Carsyn Zumpfe came off the bench to score 10 points.
Loras was led by Marissa Schroeder who scored 19 points with seven rebounds.
