Wolves Prepare for Road Trip to Illinois

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan football team heads east this weekend when they travel to Jacksonville, Illinois to face Illinois College.  Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Blueboys is set for 1 pm at England Stadium.

NWU and Illinois College are meeting for the first ever time on the football.  Both the Prairie Wolves and Blueboys suffered losses in the opening week and want to get in the win column this Saturday.

The Prairie Wolves offense is looking for a bounce back this week after being held under 200 yards of total offense in the opener.  NWU also committed four turnovers against the Cobbers.  On defense, NWU faced on of the top rushing teams in the country last week allowing 391 yards on the ground.  This week's opponent, Illinois College, features more of a passing attack.

Illinois College also struggled on offense in a 21-0 loss to Rhodes College.  The Blueboys were sacked six times and had a negative rushing total.

The Blueboys were picked to finish 3rd in the South Division of the Midwest Conference this season.  They were 5-5 one year ago and have posted winning seasons in nine straight years.

Fans not traveling to Illinois can listen to the game locally on KFOR 1240 AM/103.3 FM or online at kfornow.com with Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Janda calling the action.
