LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan won all three doubles matches but couldn't get enough wins in singles action as the University of Dubuque rallied back to defeat the Prairie Wolves 5-4, in American Rivers Conference women's tennis action on Saturday (Oct. 6) at Knight Fieldhouse. NWU then closed out the conference dual schedule with a 8-1 setback to Loras College on Sunday (Oct. 7) in the fieldhouse.
The Prairie Wolves finish with fall portion of their dual schedule with a 2-6 overall record and 2-6 mark in conference play. They are currently tied for the 6
th spot in the league standings with another team still having conference matches remaining.
NWU started the Dubuque match off great sweeping all three doubles matches.
Madi Hinshaw and Jordyn Fossel won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, Han Le and
Samantha Slizoski won 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles match with Shea Swanson and Megan Peklo winning 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Dubuque then came away with five of the six singles victories to earn the 5-4 victory. The lone individual to win for NWU was Han Le at No. 3 singles. Le won 6-2, 6-4 over Madeline Parker at the No. 3 spot.
Against Loras on Sunday at Knight Fieldhouse, the Duhawks won two of three doubles matches and all six singles matches.
NWU got their win at No. 3 doubles with Peklo/Swanson winning 8-5 over Meghann Long and Maddie Smith.
Next up for the Prairie Wolves is the American Rivers Individual Tournament that is set for Oct. 12-13 in Ankeny, Iowa.
