Wartburg Shuts Out NWU Women's Soccer 1-0

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg College scored the lone goal of the match in the 65th minute as the Knights defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 1-0 in American Rivers Conference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 6) in Waverly, Iowa.
 
NWU has now been shutout in three of their four conference matches this season as they fall to 6-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.  Wartburg moves to 8-4-1 and 2-1-1 in A-R-C play.
 
Wartburg had an impressive 21 shot attempts in the first half, compared to just five for the Prairie Wolves.  However, NWU was able to keep the Knights off the scoreboard with 10 saves.
 
In the second half, the Knights kept threatening and finally scored in the 65th minute when Alyssa Drewelow scored on a break away off an assist from Nicole Adair.  The would prove to be the only goal of the entire match.
 
Liz Wolf had 21 total saves for the Prairie Wolves at goalkeeper as Wartburg finished the match with 40 total shot attempts.  NWU had 10 attempts, including four shots on goal.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan will go for their elusive first conference win on Tuesday night (Oct. 9) when they host Coe College at Abel Stadium.
