The Nebraska Wesleyan football team will make its final road trip of the season this Saturday (Oct. 27) when the Prairie Wolves travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face the University of Dubuque in American Rivers Conference football action. Nebraska Wesleyan is coming off their first conference win of the season last Saturday when they defeated Luther College 23-15 at Abel Stadium. The Prairie Wolves improved to 2-6 overall and 1-5 in American Rivers action with two games to play.
Dubuque is one of four teams in the American Rivers Conference with only one league loss. The Spartans are on a three-game winning streak to move their overall mark to 5-2 with a 4-1 A-R-C record. During their three game win streak, the Spartans are averaging over 43 points per game.
The Prairie Wolves put forth a complete game in all three phases of the game last Saturday in the victory over Luther. NWU got a record setting performance from
Shaka Taylor who broke the all-time rushing record and career all-purpose yardage record. The Prairie Wolves got key defensive stops and held the Norse well under their league leading rushing total and the NWU special teams blocked a punt and scored a touchdown for the first time since 2011.
NWU will need all three of those areas to come through this Saturday facing a tough challenge at Dubuque. The Spartans have a strong running game, including two backs that both ran for over 200 yards against the Prairie Wolves last season.
