Box Score STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team ended the 2018 season the same way it started out the year in August, with a victory. NWU shutout Buena Vista University 3-0 in the final regular season match of the year.
The Prairie Wolves finish the 2018 season with an 8-8 overall record under first year head coach
Jen Dyson. NWU picked up their second conference victory of the year as they tied for 7
th in the American Rivers Conference standings.
BVU ends the year at 1-14 overall and 0-8 in American Rivers play.
NWU and BVU played to a 0-0 tie in the first 45 minutes of the match. The Prairie Wolves then wasted little time to get on the attack in the second half.
Kaitlyn Sullivan scored the first goal of the match in the 47
th minute to put the Prairie Wolves ahead 1-0. It is the 6
th goal of the season for Sullivan as she ends the season as the team's leading scorer.
Hannah Rhodes then got into the fun later in the half. In the 72
nd minute, Rhodes gave the Prairie Wolves the 2-0 lead with a goal. She kept the party going just three minutes later finding the open net once again making it a 3-0 advantage.
That was all the scoring the Prairie Wolves would need as they posted their first shutout victory in conference play.
Leslie Borges recorded four saves to earn the shutout win as the NWU goalkeeper.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished the match with 23 total shot attempts, including 18 shots on goal. BVU had just six shots on the night.
The Prairie Wolves must say goodbye to six seniors who played their final match in a Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer uniform.
