DECORAH, Iowa – Luther College broke open a two-run game with nine runs in the 7th and 8th innings as the Norse defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, 13-3, in Iowa Conference baseball action on Friday afternoon in Decorah, Iowa.

NWU trailed just 4-2 headed into the bottom of the 7th inning and recorded two outs to start the inning.  An error kept the inning alive and the Norse took advantage as they got a 2-run single and 2-run triple to break open the game.

The 8th inning was more of the same for Luther as they hit a 3-run home run then a second Prairie Wolves error kept the inning going.  Lutehr responded with a single and walk to load the bases. The game then ended on a hit batter in the bottom of the 8th due to the run rule.

Luther jumped out quick with two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning.  NWU cut that lead in half as the Prairie Wolves used small ball to get two straight bunt singles.  Cam Lulow then grounded out to allow Matt Orozco to score and make it 2-1.

A run in the bottom of the 2nd inning made it 3-1 then Luther added another run in the 4th inning to make the score 4-1.  Nebraska Wesleyan cut the lead to two runs in the 6th inning as Orozco singled and came around to score on an error.

Orozco would score all three Prairie Wolves runs as he blasted a solo home run over the left field fence in the top of the 8th inning for the final run of the game.

NWU finished with seven hits in the game, as Orozco was 3-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.  Two of the other NWU hits were bunts with Micah Hoage and Cam Lulow adding the other two hits.
