The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team will close out the 2017 season on Saturday (Nov. 11) with a trip to Waverly, Iowa to face Wartburg College. Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Knights is set for 1:00 pm.
NWU has now won two straight games to improve to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in IIAC action. Wartburg has already clinched the 2017 IIAC championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA III Playoffs that start next week. The Knights are undefeated at 9-0 and 7-0 in IIAC.
Nebraska Wesleyan set a new school record for total offense in last Saturday's victory over Simpson College. The Prairie Wolves moved the ball on the ground and through the air. Running back
Shaka Taylor had the second highest single game rushing performance in school history with 230 yards, while
Jonathan Curti set a new school record for single season passing yards.
NWU will face a tough challenge this week going up against a Wartburg defense that has allowed just 12 touchdowns in seven IIAC games.
Wartburg leads the IIAC in scoring offense and scoring defense. They have outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points a game this year. The Knights are especially tough at home, posting a 24-2 home record the past five years.
