The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team hits the road for the first time in 2016 as they travel to Decorah, Iowa on Saturday (Oct. 1) to face Luther College in Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) football action. Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Norse is set for 1 pm.
Â
NWU is looking for their first Iowa Conference victory this Saturday as they enter the game with a 1-3 overall and 0-2 mark in IIAC play. Luther also is winless at conference play at 1-2 overall and 0-1 in IIAC action.
Â
Nebraska Wesleyan is coming off a 48-17 loss to Coe College during Homecoming weekend in a game that featured two different rain delays. The Prairie Wolves are set to put together two solid halves of football and get back on the winning track to start the month of October.
Â
The Norse are the top rushing team in the Iowa Conference averaging just under 300 yards on the ground with their option attack. Luther got their IIAC season started last week with a 30-17 loss to University of Dubuque. Luther's lone win on the year was in week two as they defeated St. Olaf, 46-40.
Â
This will be the third meeting in football between NWU and Luther, but the first since the 1994 season. Each team has one win in the series as both games were played at a neutral site in the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
