LINCOLN, Neb. -- Cardinal Stritch scored three first half goals and held on for a 3-1 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University in women's soccer action on Sunday morning (Sept. 11) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.
The Cardinal Stritch Wolves improve to 2-2 overall, while the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves fall to 2-3 overall.
Cardinal Stritch's Nicole Hawley got the first two goals of the match to put her team up 2-0. Her first goal was in the 14th minute, followed by another goal in the 29th minute. The Wolves tacked on another goal just two minutes later when Jamie Karch scored.
NWU finally got on the scoreboard in the 34th minute when
Carah Criner scored to make the score 3-1.
Neither team was able to score in the 2nd half to make the final score 3-1. The Prairie Wolves attempted only five shots in the match, one day after scoring 16 goals against Mont Marty. CSU had 21 total shots as they scored early and took control with a 12-shot to one advantage in the first half.
NWU will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to York College.
