MITCHELL, S.D.  – Nebraska Wesleyan exploded for 11 runs as they defeated the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers 11-1 in five innings of game one of a GPAC softball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in Mitchell, S.D. DWU came back to win game two, 2-1.

After struggling to score runs the past few games, the Prairie Wolves got the bats going and ran off for 15 hits in game one of the double header as they ended the game early due to the run rule.Â

NWU led 1-0 after two innings, then pounded out five hits with three runs in the top of the third inning.Â
Madi Francis had the big hit of the inning with a two-run double.Â

The onslaught of scoring continued in the top of the 4
th inning as Nebraska Wesleyan added fou more innings.Â
Maddy Ethen hit a two-run double,
Jordan Arndt and Francis each had an RBI single. The game was came to a close early in the 5
th inning as the Prairie Wolves added three more runs in the 5
th to end the game due to the run rule.

Rachel Kubik and Ethen both had RBI singles and
Hunter Bailey hit a solo home run.

Ethen had a huge game going 4-4 with four RBI, including a double. Francis also drove in four runs, going 3-3 at the plate.

Marissa Garver got the victory on the mound allowing just one earned run in five innings.

Game two was a pitching dual as neither team scored a run in the first five innings of the game. Finally in the in the bottom of the 6
th, Dakota Wesleyan strung together three hits to plate two runs.

NWU made one last run at rallying as they opened the 7
th inning with a single by
Rachel Kubik. Kubik came around to score on a single by
Nicole Vana to cut the lead in half. The tying run advanced to second base with two outs, but the Tigers recorded two straight outs to seal the win.
