Wolves Head West To Blow Out Tigers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Nebraska Wesleyan picked up their seventh victory of the season as they went on the road to earn a 82-51 victory over Colorado College on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 18).
 
NWU outscored the Tigers 44-22 in the second half as they earned the big nonconference victory.  The Prairie Wolves led 38-29 at halftime but doubled the score of the Tigers in the second half.
 
NWU shot 52.0 percent from the floor in the second half, making 6-11 from 3-point range to get the win out west. 
 
Colorado College trailed by just 11 points with 14:59 to play in the second half when NWU went on a big run. The Prairie Wolves outscored the Tigers 17-3 over the next six minutes to build up a 25-point advantage which was too much to overcome.
 
Cooper Cook had another big game for NWU with a team-high 22 points, nine rebounds and five steals to pace the Prairie Wolves.  A total of four NWU players scored in double figures on the day.  Deion Wells-Ross came off the bench to score 14 points with five rebounds, four steals and two blocks.   Nate Schimonitz had 10 points and four assists, while Ryan Garver scored 11 points.
 
The Tigers shot just 30.2 percent from the field, making 27.3 percent in the second half including 0-4 from 3-point range.  Colorado College was just 1-12 from long distance in the game.
 
Three different players scored 11 points to pace the Tigers.
 
NWU will now be off until January 2 when they play another non-conference game at St. Scholastica on January 2.
