STORM LAKE, Iowa – Buena Vista sacked NWU quarterback
Ben Green on the last play of the game as the Beavers sealed a 38-31 victory over the Prairie Wolves in IIAC football action Saturday afternoon (Nov. 5) in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Nebraska Wesleyan led 17-14 at halftime, but the Beavers scored two straight touchdowns in the second half to take the 28-17 lead early in the 4
th quarter. The Prairie Wolves pulled within four points on a 60-yard TD pass from Green to
Ryan Schneider making the score 28-24 with 12:04 left in the game.

The NWU defense held Buena Vista to a field goal keeping it a one score game with 4:34 left. The Prairie Wolves offense couldn't convert on 4
th down giving BVU prime field position and they tacked on another TD to go ahead 38-24.Â

NWU didn't fold and made a late rally getting a TD pass from Green to
Jackson Hinze with 1:17 left. The Prairie Wolves then recovered the onside kick, but two plays later BVU got an interception. NWU did force a punt to get the ball back with 26 seconds left in the game. Four straight completed passes got the Prairie Wolves down to the BVU 39-yard line. On the final play of the game, Green stepped up in the pocket then was sacked from behind to end the game.

The NWU offense had a season-high 524 yards of total offense outgaining BVU by nearly 100 yards as the Beavers had 430 total yards.Â

Three different players scored their first career touchdowns for the Prairie Wolves.Â
Skyler Werger got the first touchdown of the game on a 9-yard pass from
Ben Green. In the second quarter,
Jack Cobb scored on a 1-yard run to put the Prairie Wolves up 17-7. The final player to reach the end zone for the first time was
Jackson Hinze in the fourth quarter.

Ben Green finished the game 26-43 for 350 yards with three touchdowns, and one interception in the 4
th quarter. Green also had 34 yards on the ground.

Jack Cobb led the ground attack with 67 yards on 10 carries as he replaced
Joel Wiedel for the entire second half after Wiedel left with an injury. Wiedel ran for 54 yards on 13 carries and caught three passes for 38 yards before leaving.

Ryan Schneider had seven catches for 166 yards with a touchdown, averaging 23.7 yards per catch.

Dakota Buss led the NWU defense with nine solo tackles.Â
Eli Bricker had eight tackles with 2.0 tackles-for-loss, while
Heath Hovendick had seven solo stops in the secondary.Â
Andy Chleborad got his third interception of the season in the first half.
