CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. – The Nebraska Wesleyan University women's soccer team received the No. 6 seed in the 2016 IIAC Postseason Women's Soccer Tournament when the pairings were announced on Wednesday (Oct. 26).
NWU will face the No. 3 seed, Central College, in the opening round of the tournament. The Prairie Wolves and Dutch will meet on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Pella, Iowa at 11 am.
The winner of the NWU-Central match will face the No. 2 seed Luther College on November 2 in Decorah, Iowa. Luther received a first round bye to advance to the semifinals, as did the No. 1 seed IIAC regular season champion Loras College.
An automatic bid to the NCAA III National Tournament is on the line as the winner of the IIAC Tournament receives the conference's automatic berth.
This is the second straight year that the Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team has played in a postseason tournament after going 16 years without an appearance. Last year, NWU lost in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament as the No. 7 seed.
Central College won the first meeting between the two teams on Oct. 11 in Pella, Iowa in a 3-2 overtime victory.
