Knights Post Shutout Win Over Prairie Wolves

Box Score WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg College handed the Nebraska Wesleyan women their second straight loss as the Knights defeated the Prairie Wolves 4-0 in Iowa Conference soccer action on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 22).
 
In the final IIAC match of the season for the Prairie Wolves, the Knights shutout NWU for their 10th win of the season and fifth straight shutout.
 
After starting the year with a 2-1 mark in IIAC action, Nebraska Wesleyan went five straight matches without a victory.  The postseason fate of the Prairie Wolves is still up for grabs as NWU must now sit and wait until teams complete their season on Tuesday in the final day of conference action.  NWU is currently in fifth with the top six teams making the postseason tournament.
 
Wartburg scored a pair of goals in each half getting the scoring started in the 18th minute on a goal by Morgan Neuendor off a corner kick.  The Knights added another goal five minutes later as Alyssa Hewitt found the back of the net.
 
Hewitt got the scoring started in the second half with her second straight goal to put the Knights up 3-0.  Wartburg scored another goal to put the match out of reach in the 57th minute.
 
NWU attempted just seven shots in the match, compared to 23 for Wartburg.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan will play their final regular season match of the 2016 season on Sunday (Oct. 23) at Cornell College.
